Are you Teachable?: The Power of Humility

So I have a very active imagination. I mean a VERY ACTIVE imagination. People say I am very interesting. In all honesty... I believe them. My mind is such an interesting place. Sometimes, I think when the world stresses God, He comes to take a break in my mind. I am not even joking. That is one of the main reasons I keep my heart pure, because I know it's my Father's break room. It's also the reason why the Lord is ALWAYS QUICK to correct my errors. Like the story I am about to share with you right now.
Sometime last year, I was forced into a training room with the Lord. It was a time of intense prayer, and I honestly did not have the ability to take on what the Lord was requiring of me. But I did it anyway. Along the way, He brought me a man that, till this day... God. This man. I will NEVER forget him. He is indeed a destiny helper, and he has earned himself unrestricted access to my heart. I am told friendships with the opposite sex die a natural death once people get into relationships. What am I saying? I have first-hand experienced how happy girls who see me as competition get when the men they love treat me with disdain.
Gosh, I do not want to derail, but how unfortunate is that? The love of self is one poison slowly killing our world today. We want to be it ALONE, and when someone else comes into the picture who looks like they will shine with us... we do everything in our power to make them feel small. Feel less. Manipulate. Tell lies... this is the reason why you must know your identity in Christ, so you're not tossed to and fro by words or actions.
Anyway... this man (let's call him Destiny Helper) and I would go on prayer walks, have biblical debates, share knowledge and insight from the Scriptures... it was just a lovely environment where my imagination could bloom. During one of our conversations, I said to him, "I think Jesus was an angel." He laughed and curiously waited for my next words. At this point, he had been exposed to the knowledge and actuality that I am not a regular thinker. Before he could interrupt, I said, "Hear me out, hear me out."
I went on to explain that Jesus was an angel who had compassion on the Lord. He was probably one of the lower-ranking angels who loved the Lord so much. He was moved with compassion by the admiration the Lord had for His people. He felt sad to see the Lord stressing and hiding in light to cry over humanity. During the meeting they were having in heaven, Jesus was serving drinks around the throne room. The intensity in heaven made the angels who could enter the throne room extremely busy, so a higher-ranking angel sent Jesus to serve drinks.
As He was going around the throne room, serving from cup to cup, He heard God the Father say, "Who shall I send? Who will go for Us?" Without thinking twice, forgetting His place, He screamed, "I will!" At that moment, everyone turned to look at Him. The higher-ranking angel started apologising and was about to throw Him out when God the Father stopped him.
"Come here," He said to Jesus. "Who are You?" He asked.
"My name is Jesus," He replied.
At that moment, God the Father, who sees all things, knows all things, understands all things... saw the history of Jesus and was moved by the love Jesus had for Him. He explained what would befall Jesus, and Jesus was not moved by it, for He loved the Lord. He wanted to relieve the pain He saw God going through. I told this story with such vivacity, I am certain that, even if my Destiny Helper will not admit it, I almost won him over. But come the next day, I was observing my quiet time. The Holy Spirit led me straight to the book of John. I PROMISE, I had no business being in the book of John. But it read:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God..."
Then I heard the Holy Spirit ask, "WHO IS THE WORD?"
At that moment I said, "Dang it!" I turned to heaven and said, "My bad, Big Bro, my bad... but You can't deny it was a beautiful story." At our next meeting, I shared this experience with my Destiny Helper, and we both laughed together and actually mocked the ludicrousness behind my wild imagination. I thought this was a one-off until something transpired recently.
I had a conversation with a sister, and we somewhat disagreed about whether or not we were born with the Holy Spirit. I said to her, "I believe we all came into the world with God's Spirit, but the decisions we make in life along the way cause Him to depart, or stay and grow even stronger."
Then she argued, "But Scripture says the Holy Spirit comes upon us when we become born again."
I then argued, "Yes, I believe a stronger level of God's Spirit..."
As I argued, I realised I was using my own knowledge. So I stopped and said, "Can we come back to this? I want to do my own research."
Anyone who knows me knows I LOVE to win a good argument. But not when it comes to God. With God, I LOVE to learn the different dimensions of Him. Only, I am VERY SCEPTICAL about being led astray. I find many preachers LOVE followership. The moment you bend your ears to listen, they automatically find it disrespectful when you disagree with anything they say. So I had an honest conversation with God: "If You want me, You have to teach me." For this reason, I do not struggle to be humble, because the Holy Spirit brought me up.
Again, I digress. The Lord took note of that conversation. I did not actively go researching because... well, I was lazy and distracted. But He brought someone else who held the same belief as the sister I had spoken with. This time around, the individual said we have an "identity" and not the Holy Spirit when we come into the world. I asked, "So where does this identity come from?"
They responded, "From God."
Then I said, "Can anything evil come from God? Is it easier to say one has an identity than it is to say one has the Holy Spirit?"
As I had this conversation, I became even more convinced of my beliefs. We are born with the Holy Spirit, but receive a greater measure when we are born again, or lose Him when we grieve Him and He departs. This was until... you guessed right... I was having my Bible study. I opened to Romans 8:14, but the Holy Spirit took me to Romans 8:16. It says:
"And the Spirit himself speaks to our spirit and makes us sure that we are God's children." (Easy-to-Read Version)
Suddenly, I understood what my friends were saying. Yes, we are tripartite in nature because we are spiritual beings first. But no, we do not automatically have the Holy Spirit. He comes upon us when we yield in surrender to Jesus as Lord and Saviour. Yes, there are exceptions, like John the Baptist from his mother's womb. I want to believe the Holy Spirit spoke to me even before I knew Him and surrendered my life to Jesus. There are many things I do not understand and cannot put into words right now, but the main fact remains... I am willing to learn.
Now, why do I share this story? Because God is desperate to teach His children, one to one. It is ludicrous to learn from man about God when you can learn of God from God. The idea of Christianity is not so someone can teach you about God, but so you can be introduced to God FOR YOURSELF!
God desires a personal relationship with you. He will never let you drift too far away from Him when you misunderstand His Word. He waits for you to return to the secret chambers of your quiet time so He can minister to your spirit. The question is... Are you teachable?
I love you. But Jesus much more, and He doesn't need your permission to do so.
